The Whangaparāoa Peninsula runs about 11km out into the Hauraki Gulf, with beaches on both its northern and southern sides. That's what makes it genuinely different to clean for: a house at Manly or Army Bay, facing straight out into open water, weathers very differently to one tucked into the more sheltered Gulf Harbour side. Add in the mix of original 1950s and 60s holiday baches converted into permanent homes alongside newer hilltop builds chasing the sea views, and there's no single answer for "what does a Whangaparāoa exterior need."
Two coastlines, two conditions
North-facing bays like Manly and Army Bay cop the open gulf wind and spray directly. The more sheltered Gulf Harbour side builds up differently, often more algae than salt film.

With marinas at Gulf Harbour and boats launched straight off beaches like Manly, salt and grime end up on more than just the house, driveways, boat pads and trailer areas need it too.
