Orewa runs along a 3km stretch of open beach, and that's exactly what makes it different from most of the Hibiscus Coast. There's no harbour or headland breaking up the wind off the water, so beachfront and esplanade properties cop a lot more direct salt than homes a few streets back. At the same time, older units near the town centre sit alongside newer townhouses spreading down from Millwater and Milldale. Different ages, different cladding, different cleaning needs, all in the same suburb.
